Italian Cream Tarts
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup milk
3 beaten egg yolks
2 tablespoons liqueur (such as clear creme de cacao;
orange; raspberry; or 1 teaspoon vanilla
1 package (17 1/2 ounce) frozen puff pastry -- thawed
1 8-ounce carton cream cheese (softened)
4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate (cut up)
1 tablespoon shortening
assorted berries (optional)
In a sauce pan, place sugar, flour, milk, and egg yolks.
Whisk until smooth and cook over medium heat until thick. (Whisk or stir constantly.)
Add 2 tablespoos of flavor and stir. Cool slightly or refrigerate.
Fill puff pastry -- drizzle with chocolate or sprinkle with fresh
berries -- or dust with powdered sugar!! Enjoy!
Apple Surprise
3 large apples (peeled and chopped small)
1/2 stick butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon (nutmeg, clover, etc.)
Melt butter, add sugar, and melt. Add apples and cook for 15 minutes. Pour over puff pastry and sprinkle with powdered sugar, pecans, walnuts, raisins, or even a little whipped cream! |
